FAQ: Do Fable Dishes Scratch?

Yes! Unfortunately, all matte and semi-matte ceramics are susceptible to those pesky silver marks from your flatware. I have the “Speckled White” dinnerware and it has been marked up over the years. My husband must be an aggressive eater because his plates are always considerably more scratched than mine after a meal. And while I don’t have physical proof, the darker colours would likely hide the scratches a bit better.

So what can you do about it? To be honest, I just live with it because I’m kind of lazy! But you don’t have to!

How to remove scratches from your dinnerware

Luckily, removing those scratches from your plates and bowls isn’t hard, it just takes a bit of elbow grease. I like to use liquid Bar Keeper’s Friend and the Tawashi brush that Fable sells (any hard bristle brush would work). Give your plates a little scrub and the marks should disappear almost completely! I like to toss them in the dishwasher after this just to ensure all the Bar Keeper’s Friend residue is rinsed off.
