I love adding art in kids’ spaces. I think it is a great way to add personality to their rooms and really make it their own (you can see my other tips for designing a kids’ room here) And while I try to teach my kids to respect our home and be careful with their things, art gets bumped into and has fallen off the wall on more than one occasion. Instead of taking all the art down in fear of something being broken, or someone being hurt, I’ve learned a few things for creating a kid safe gallery wall. And with these 3 tips for creating a kid safe gallery wall, you really can have the best of both worlds!

3 Tips for Creating a Kid Safe Gallery Wall

1. Remove the Glass

The biggest fear for me when hanging art in kids’ spaces, is the glass being broken. My solution … remove the glass! Personally, I remove the glass from most of the art in my house anyways because I hate the glare. But if you’re really concerned about protecting the art, you can buy plexiglass and cut it to fit your frame.

2. Use Kid-Safe Hooks from OOK

This is a total game changer. OOK sells “kid-safe” hooks which they claim “won’t fall down unless your wall does”! And after installing a few of these – I totally get why. Not only are they super secure in the wall once installed, the hook itself has a little latch which prevents the art from popping off the hook if it gets bumped into. This has given me such peace of mind!

3. Use Adhesive Tabs to Secure Art

If your art isn’t falling OFF the wall, but is always hanging crooked because it is getting bumped into, I highly recommend the adhesive tabs that come in this variety pack. This securely adheres your art to the wall, without damaging your walls, and keeps everything hanging level.

I recommend these tips for kids’ spaces, however all of these tools and tips can be used for every gallery wall in your home! I won’t lie, as soon as I got these hanging kits, I went around to every crooked hanging piece of art in my house and used the adhesive strips. No more un-level art in this house!

Now please tell me I’m not the only one with kids rambunctious enough to knock art off the wall!
